At one point in time,

I knew love was a failure,

but I didn't want to believe it was true.

I trusted my naive wisdom with an emotion so fragile.

It happened so quickly,

so much compassion lost in the blink of an eye.

So much said,

so much done.

Too little was felt,

nothing was won.

It seems I'm always a day late and a dollar short.
